Limmud has arrived in Chicago!
What is Limmud? Limmud, the word, means learning in Hebrew. But Limmud, the movement, is so many different things all at once, we need new words to describe it — a Jewish communiversity, a feastival of learning.
Limmud has one goal: to take you one step further on your own Jewish journey
Limmud
* is a global movement of diverse volunteers who organize, participate in, and are passionate about Jewish learning in all its forms
* creates local and regional Limmud Conferences
Conferences
* are filled with sessions in many formats: lectures, workshops, text-study sessions, film, meditation, discussions, exhibits and performances
* include different tracks of study which can be followed or not as you wish — you can create your own Jewish learning experience
* are pan-denominational, multi-generational, and truly transformational
* are as diverse as the participants
Limmud believes
* everyone has something to teach and everyone has something to learn and the entire community has something to gain
* Jews from diverse backgrounds can come together to learn and celebrate learning without a political or ideological agenda
The Limmud Chicago team is is looking forward to a year of learning and planning for our second conference February 20, 2011. Among our core values is a spirit of volunteerism combined with participation — what we call volunticipation. We invite your volunticipation. Go to volunticipate or email volunteers@limmudchicago.org to get involved.
